St. Peter’s celebrated "Senior Sunday” virtually on Sunday, June 7th. We honored our graduating seniors from high school and college or technical school. A power point presentation that highlights the lives of our graduates and includes their accomplishments as well as plans for the future can be seen by selecting the video on the left. Owen Walter Bates ~ Owen is the son of Cary & Michelle Bates and a
graduate of Temple University School of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Technology. He also obtained an Associate’s Degree in Engineering in Science and Mathematics. He participated in American Society of Civil Engineers and Intramural Softball. Owen is applying for Engineering positions in Colorado and Maine. He enjoys playing golf, hiking, camping and snowboarding.

Brooke Virginia DeHart ~ is the daughter of Sherry DeHart and the late Mark DeHart. Brooke graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Rehabilitation & Human Services. She participated THON, Snowboarding Club and KBG Sorority. Brooke plans to move to San Diego, California to pursue a career in mental health services. She enjoys yoga, make up, hiking and visiting NYC.

Chelsea Irene Frantz ~ Chelsea is the daughter of Aaron & Megan Frantz and granddaughter of Marian Frantz and Charles and Sally Mateyak. Chelsea graduated from Temple University with a degree in Psychology. She participated in Young Life, Meditation Club and Habitat for Humanity. Chelsea was a member of Psi Chi National Honor Society. She was a volunteer literacy coach at an after school program. Chelsea plans to work at a university in a research setting. She enjoys painting, cooking and yoga.

Kaitlyn Augusta Frantz ~ is the daughter of Richard and Louise Frantz and graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Food Science. She participated in THON (committee member and Organization Family Relations Chairperson). Kaitlyn was a member of Sigma Alpha Professional Agriculture Sorority, the Food Service Club, Car Club, Club Rifle and Berkey Creamery QA Intern and Penn State Ice Cream Course Lab Assistant. She received the Beliasov Family Food Service Scholarship, Keystone IFT Scholarship, Frank S. & Nina Cobb Scholarship, and the Ronald C. Young Fund in International Agriculture and FDSC Opportunity Award. Kaitlyn was also an intern at Saputa Cheese USA in Green Bay and Black Creek, Wisconsin and a QA Intern at Turkey Hill Dairy. Kaitlyn plans to work, pursuing a career in quality assurance in the food industry.

Lynn Ashley Kistler ~ is the daughter of Michael and Kristen Kistler.
Lynn graduated from Misericordia University with a degree in Medical Imaging specializing in CAT Scan. She was a member of MI Club and Bone Academy. Lynn also was on the Dean’s List. Lynn plans to work at St. Luke’s Hospital. She enjoys hunting, crafting, and hanging out with friends. Lynn’s future plans are to take her boards for CT as well, to be future Lynn Kistler BS RT (R) (CT). Lynn will also like to add, “Congratulations to all graduating classes of 2020!”

Mitchell Kent Miller ~ Mitch is the son of Kent & Jen Miller. Grandson of Arnold & Kay Miller and Albert & Charlene Miller, and great-grandson of Eldora Rex. Mitchell has successfully completed the Business Management A.A.S. program at Lehigh Carbon Community College. He received his degree on May 13, 2020. Mitch had the opportunity to combine classroom study with practical on-the-job experience at Highwood USA, LLC - Hometown, PA where he completed his Business Management Internship. His internship provided the opportunity to earn academic credits while he gained valuable work experience. Mitchell will begin full-time employment with Highwood USA, LLC in May 2020 as a Facilities Maintenance Technician. In addition to Mitchell’s Business Management degree, he holds the following certifications from the Schuylkill Technology Center, Welding Technology program: American Welding Society SENSE Certification, American Welding Society D1.1 Structural Steel Certification, NOCTI Welding Certification, and OSHA 10-Hour Certification. Mitch enjoys any outdoor activity: hunting, fishing, farming, snowboarding, target/archery/clay shooting, and softball. For the past several years, Mitch has worked part-time and learned so much from various local companies: Panther Valley Carriers, Houser Auctioneers and Houser Family Farm, Mark T. Boyle Welding & Sandblasting, Green Meadow Farms & Miller and Rex Dairy, and Highwood USA, LLC - Hometown, PA.

Gavin Parker Seip ~ is the son of Blaine and Laurie Seip. Gavin graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Technology. Gavin was a member of the Penn College Ski and Snowboard Club and the Diesel Performance Club. He enjoys kayaking, welding, hunting, woodworking and photography.

Abigail ElizabethTonkin ~ Abbie is the daughter of Shawn and Jack Tonkin. She graduated from Lehigh Carbon Community College from the Medical Assistant Program for Practical Nursing. Abbie completed her Clinical work at St. Luke’s Tamaqua. She was on the Dean’s List and will be continuing her education. Abbie works at Miller Charm Farm. She is currently studying for her state boards to be a Certified Medical Assistant.

Jesse Alex Fogel ~ is the son of Jeff and Ann Fogel. Jesse graduated from Lehighton High School. He is a member of the 4H Livestock Club. He received the Lehighton Area Educational Support Personnel Trade/Technical Scholarship. Jesse works at Eckroth Equipment Company. Jesse will be attending Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport in the Diesel Mechanic Program.

Sarah Nadine Frantz ~ Sarah is the daughter of Richard and Louise Frantz and graduated from Tamaqua Area High School. Her extracurricular activities included: The Raider marching and concert band, Jazz band, Schuylkill County Band, Tri-M Drama club, Physics Club, National Honor Society, Spanish, English, Math, and Science Honor Societies, Student Government. Sarah received the Academic Excellence Scholarship (for Schreyers Honors College), Karen Mateyak Mathematics Scholarship, Tamaqua Area Education Association Award, Theodore A. Giltner Memorial Award, the Little Schuylkill Lions Club Award, and the DAR Good Citizens Award. She was the 2019 National 4P Smallbore Champion, and a member of the four-person team to set the national record in women’s, junior’s, and open 3P air rifle. She plans to attend Penn State University and dual major in mechanical and chemical engineering. After college, Sarah intends to obtain her weapons systems engineering degree. She would like to work for a gun manufacturing company to build the first American-made precision rifle for her sport. Sarah dreams of owning her own forge one day. She has been a member of the Ontelaunee Junior Rifle Team for nearly eight years and is an instructor for the Ontelaunee Youth Archery program. Sarah enjoys reading young adult and fiction books and writing short stories. She loves to dance, especially line dancing, loves yoga, play the piano, trumpet, and guitar. Sarah bakes in her free time, and likes to watch Forged in Fire.

Matthew David Kistler ~ is the son of Michael & Kristen Kistler. Matthew graduated from Tamaqua High School. He was a member of the football team (4 years), Track and Field Team (3 years), Baseball (1 year), Biology Club, World Language Club, and Step Up. Matthew was a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society.
He was All State 1st Team Receiver for football, All State 2nd Team Defense for football and broke 5 school records for football. Matthew enjoys hunting, fishing, dirt bike riding and hanging out with his friends. Matthew plans to attend Reading Area Community College for Electrical Line Man.

Tyler George Sherman ~ is the son of George Sherman and Barbara Keilman Tyler graduated from Northern Lehigh High School. He is a Firefighter at Emerald Fire Company Station 6. He received his Eagle Scout Award, Class of 2019. Tyler works as a plumber at Koren Plumbing and Pumps Service. He enjoys fishing with his buddy, Dave, who is also an awesome mentor.

Madeline Olivia Tonkin ~ Maddie is the daughter of Shawn & Jack Tonkin
She graduated from Lehighton Area High School. Maddie was a member of the National Honor Society, Lehighton High School Band (Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, and County Band). She is a member of the Mahoning Valley Community 4H Club where she serves as President and is a Carbon County 4H Ambassador. Maddie received the Rachel Hoffmeier Memorial 4H Scholarship, Matthew D. DePue Indian Pride Band Scholarship, Eugene W. Flicker Scholarship, and the Lehighton Area Lioness/Lions Club Award. She was a Confirmation Mentor and works at Rite Aid as Pharmacy Technician. Madeline plans to attend Penn State Schuylkill Campus for Radiology in the Honors Program.
We thank God for the gift of these young people to their families, to our faith community, and to the world in which they live. May all that they do today and in the future be a reflection of God’s glory!
